 Power Outage

Friday morning sure was interesting at ECHS!  We went from extremely hot weather earlier in the week to a colder Friday morning with some rain, lightning, and thunder.  We were without power on parts of the campus for the zero period, first period, and part of the 3rd period.  We did our best by moving a couple classes into the cafeteria, using natural light, and placing emergency flashlight lanterns in classrooms.  I really appreciate the patience and flexibility demonstrated by our staff and students.

National Suicide Prevention Day

Friday was National Suicide Prevention Day.  Daily Reminder cards were passed out to students with positive messages.  Students and staff also wore teal and purple to show support.

We are very excited to announce that we will be bringing Kaiser Permanente's Ghosted program to ECHS for the first time later this semester.  Ghosted is a program that reduces stigma and encourages open discussion, to help teens understand they are not alone.  The California Dept. of Education has made it official, Ghosted meets all Tier 1 suicide prevention state mandates.  The program will be provided across 2 sessions during College Readiness class at each grade level.  More detailed information on Ghosted will come from the College Readiness teachers next month.

ECHS Clubs

The ECHS student clubs are up and running.  We have more students than ever attending club meetings.  There were 140 students at the first Key Club meeting this year!  Students, please consider joining a club, it is a great way to connect with other students!

The ECHS clubs are listed below:

Students are also working to start up 3 more clubs; Chess Club, Muslim Student Association (MSA), and Sci-Fi. & Fantasy Club.

Fun in Econ.

The seniors all performed songs in Economics class that they wrote using the Econ terms and popular background music. Here are two of the performances that I received permission to post.  Parents, if you have a senior, ask to see their video posted in the Google Classroom.

9/11

Tomorrow marks the 20th anniversary of the tragedy that took place on September 11, 2001.  I am proud of the students for organizing a moment of silence today during lunch in remembrance of the lives that were lost from this horrific attack.
