Week 3- Principal's Message We returned this week after a few days off due to the fires.  We had smokey skies but we are finding our grove with Distance Learning here at ECHS.  The students are doing well attending the Live Synchronous classes and engaging with their teachers and peers.  College classes are back up and running as well and the students that I have talked to are enjoying their classes.   Early College students are so amazing, but at times some can take on too much.  We want our students to be well-rounded and take a course load that they are able to handle without feeling overwhelmed or overly stressed.  We stress quality over quantity here at ECHS.  I would much rather see a student be successful with a high GPA with fewer college units over a student that is stressed out, earning C grades or lower, and taking multiple college classes.  The requirement for ECHS students is a minimum of 1 college class each semester.  After first semester in 9th grade students have t

2nd Week of School at ECHS This has been such a challenging week.  On Sunday we learned that one of our alumni from the ECHS Class of 2020 Nathan Garza was shot and killed while working at Safeway in American Canyon.  This shocking and tragic event has hit the ECHS community so hard.  Our hearts go out to Nathan's family and friends and we are so sorry for their loss.  We will continue to have extra support staff available to talk with and support our students who are coping with tragedy.   Distance Learning Schedule Here is our Distance Learning Schedule that starts on Monday 8/17.  We reduced the amount of Live "Synchronous" instruction to help our students avoid so much required time in front of the computer screen.  In addition to the required Live Instruction students have "Academic Time" as part of their schedule each day.  Academic time isn't required to be done online but is a required part of the student's school day.  Please see our definitions below the schedule for more detail on Live Instruction, Academic Time, and Office Hours.  On Fridays students have 10 minutes of Live Daily Instruction for each class.  Students are required to log into their class.  Their teacher will have live instruction, take attendance, and assign 40 minutes of asynchronous work for the student to complete later in the day.   *There have been some changes from the version we reviewed during Orientation.  We will be reviewing this schedule with the studen
