Homecoming

Last Friday night we had a ton of ECHS students attend the RHS football game.  The students had a great time cheering on the football team, watching and participating in the class skits, and supporting our ECHS Homecoming nominees.

We also had 137 ECHS students attend the Homecoming dance.  It was the highest attended dance in the history of Rodriguez High School with just under 1,200 tickets sold.

Stop the Bleed

Monday we had 39 ECHS students and staff members trained on Stop the Bleed.  We learned how to provide emergency aid if there is ever a situation where someone is in life threatening condition and emergency personnel hasn't arrived yet.  The students and staff learned how to treat wounds and put on tourniquets.  We are grateful for the Kaiser staff that came and provided this training for us.

ECHS on the RHS campus

Wednesday and Thursday we spent the day at Rodriguez High School.  We took over the library to hold some of our classes and to have a place for student to go on their breaks.  I was so impressed with the students and staff being so flexible, understanding, and making the best of a challenging situation.

Here are a couple of photos from Wednesday without power.  We were thankful for all the natural light in the library.

Couple more photos from Thursday.  Still at RHS but with lights on.

Counselor Corner

Don't forget, I will be having my Parent Information Night for my 11th and 12th grade parents on Monday 10/14/2019 at 6:00pm at Solano Community College in the back half of the cafeteria. I will be doing an interactive overview of the UC and CSU application, talking about Financial Aid, scholarship information, and the SCC Spring 2020 registration process.

For my 9th and 10th grader parents, my Parent Information Night will be on Wednesday, 10/16/2019 at 6:00pm at Solano Community College. I will be going over the high school graduation requirements, 4-year plans, college entrance requirements (A-G requirements), and an explanation of SCC's IGETC and how it is used for high school graduation, A-G requirements, and associate degree and bachelor degree requirements.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Mae Valles

Student of the Week

The ECHS Student of the Week is 9th grader, Nikki Chindavong.  Nikki earned all A's on her first high school progress report and is doing well in her SCC Sign Language class.  Nikki plays on the Rodriguez High School Golf team and is a member of the Key Club.

Yesterday Nikki shot the low score of 77 for 18 holes at Rancho Solano at the MEL Girls Golf Championship.  Nikki completed a perfect league season by shooting the lowest score in every league match this season.  Nikki was named MEL player of the year!  Congratulations Nikki and good luck at Sections!

High School Showcase

If you know anybody in middle school that is interested in Early College or any of the other FSUSD programs, please encourage them to come and see us at the High School Showcase event on Tuesday, October 22nd at Armijo High School from 5:00-7:00pm.

* There is also a College Night on the same night and time at Armijo.  Over 50 colleges will have reps there.  More information regarding College Night will be sent out next week.

Student Advisory Council

This month the Student Advisory Council meeting will be at RHS on Wednesday from 3:30-4:30.  We would love to see a lot of ECHS students in attendance.  If students have questions about the council they can see me or the FSUSD Student Board Member, ECHS student Eric Cortes.  One of Eric's roles as student board member is to chair the student advisory meetings.
