Rally/Academic Awards

We had our first ever student rally today!  The whole school attended in the gym.  The Leadership students did an amazing job planning fun games and getting some friendly class competitions started!  Many students are already asking when our next rally is going to be.

Just for attending the rally, the students got an Early College High School pen and a frozen yogurt treat.  I also visited classes before and after the rally to give out academic awards to the students who made the honor roll. With GPA's 3.5 or above, these students received their Academic Excellence pins, Academic Letters, Lantern Patches, and 4.0 Golden Mustang pins. Congratulations to the honor roll students on all of their hard work.

During the Rally we raffled off 9 gifts cards to students on the honor roll.  I want to thank the RHS/ECHS PTSO, Ms. Ahad, and Ms. Thompson for donating the gift cards for the students.

Registration

The students have all now received their fall high school class schedule.  We are asking that they plan their college class requests next week and have the Special Admit forms turned in Thursday, April 11th.  This will give SCC plenty of time to clear all the students before our May 6th registration date.  Students who are unsure what classes to take in the fall are encouraged to see Ms. Mae or I next week for guidance.

10th Grade PE

Next year we are bringing on a full-time high school PE teacher to ECHS.  10th grade students have the option to take PE during the 3rd period block or during 0 period (7:00-7:50am Monday-Friday).  There is also the option to take Independent Study PE which meets only on Fridays from 7:00-7:50am but includes 4 hours of work outside the class per week.

12th grade students have the option to take PE 1st period, 3rd period, or 0 period as class size permits.

*If you have questions about PE next school year, please feel free to give me an email or call.  I also plan to discuss this at the Parent Group meeting on Monday, April 8th from 6:00-7:00 in classroom 1104, all parents are welcome to attend.

9th grade Biology

In accordance to CA law, Mr. Voyce will begin HIV/AIDS prevention education on May 10th using the Positive Prevention PLUS curriculum in the 9th grade classes.  Mr. Voyce is coming to the Parent Group meeting on Monday to answer any questions.  He is also hosting a session for parents to review the curriculum on April 25 from 4:30-5:30pm in his classroom 1642.  Mr Voyce can be reached at QuintenV@fsusd.org if you have questions.
