The Child Nutrition Department sent out letters and meal applications earlier this month.  If you want to apply for the school district lunch program the deadline is 9/27/17.  Please let me know if you have questions or need support with this.  Everyday lunches are delivered to Solano College from the school district to students who order them or are in the lunch program.

10th grade College Readiness students were doing presentations Monday morning in Ms. Turgeon-Staggs class.  Students used examples from the movie Shrek and demonstrated how they increased the level of questions.  The goal was to raise the depth of knowledge.

Tuesday was the first ECHS Parent Group Meeting.  It was great hearing input from parents and sharing ideas and plans for upcoming events.  If you missed the meeting and would like to get involved the next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 17 from 2:00-3:00 in room 1635.  A few things discussed were a college field trip to Sac State and UC Davis, Senior Project Pitches and Mentors, PTSO Grad Night, Adopt-a-teacher, and starting a food pantry.

Wednesday night was ECHS 11th and 12th grade parent night.  I want to thank the ECHS staff for sharing the wonderful things that are taking place in their classes.  ECHS is truly a special place!

-Next time we'll take some pictures before we turn off lights :)

Student Leadership was packed again today!  Spirit week, Trunk or Treat, Food Drives, Homecoming dance, fundraisers, and more were discussed by the students at lunch.

Ms. Valles has been busy all week visiting students and doing presentations in the College Readiness classes.  We want to make sure all the students are able to use the Solano College website to see the course catalog and plan their classes for next semester.  The schedule comes out on Oct. 16th.

Today 9th grade students reviewed our sample 4 year plan and IGETC.  I spoke with the students about the importance of doing well in their high school classes.  High school classes need to come first.  If students are not able to keep their high school grades up we will reduce the amount of college classes they take next semester.  Progress Report grades will all be posted by Monday and I will be meeting with students and parents to discuss supports if needed.

Mr. Voyce asked me to share that there is a community meeting regarding the Cordelia transportation projects on Monday at 6:30 at Rodriguez High School.

The Homecoming dance is on Saturday Oct. 21 from 7:00-10:00 at Rodriguez High School.  The cost is $20 or $10 with the ASB card.  Students must have a 2.0 GPA and dance form filled out.  The forms are available in my office, Ms. Williamson's room, or Ms. Turgeon-Staggs room.

PSAT is also still on sale for the Oct. 14 test.  Students can pay for the test in my office or with Ms. Williamson.

Earlier this week I was able to catch some RHS waterpolo that some of our ECHS students are participating in.  Now I am off to Rodriguez for another home football game.  Last Friday I saw a good group ECHS students enjoying the game.  I think it is great that we are supporting the football players and cheerleaders. We are hoping for another win tonight!
