September 15
Our first ECHS senior class held a Senior Sunrise event this morning at the stadium here at Solano College. The 12th grade students got to school at 6:00am, played music, ate breakfast together, and took pictures. This is such an amazing group of students!
Wednesday we held our first ECHS Parent Information Night for parents of 9th and 10th grade students. We had an excellent turnout and it was a pleasure speaking with many parents after the presentations.
We are looking forward to next Wednesday, Sept. 20th for the 11th and 12th grade parent night.
A couple of important dates that Ms. Mae shared at Parent Night are:
October 16 Solano College Releases the Spring Semester Class Schedules online
October 25 Ms. Mae will hold a Counselor Info. Night for ECHS parents at RHS in the library from 6:00-7:00. We will be reviewing FSUSD graduation requirements and A-G, completing transcript reviews, 4-Year Plans, IGETC, and more.
December 13 is our Solano College 2nd Semester class registration date.
The ECHS students have 4 year Universities on their mind. The seniors are narrowing down their preferences and starting the application process.
*Ms. Mae attended a UC conference this week and found out that students applying to UCs are able to weight up to 8 college classes from 10th and 11th grades. Adding an extra point to their GPA for each of these classes really helps when applying.
ECHS Senior Jaelyn Graves shared with me that she attended the HBCU recruitment fair last weekend and was accepted on the spot to Dillard University, Hampton University, and Fort Valley St. Grambling State, Morgan State, Alcorn State, and Coppin State Universities are all pending for her. We are extremely proud of Jaelyn!
We can't wait to see where the rest of the seniors get accepted!
The FSUSD College Fair coming up. This event is for all middle and high school families. It is 6:00-8:00 at Fairfield High School on Sept. 26th. There is also a financial aid workshop prior starting at 5:30pm.
I am starting a parent group open to any ECHS parents that want to come. The first meeting is Tuesday, Sept. 19th at 2:00 in Ms. Williamson's classroom (1635). This is a chance for parents to find out ways to get involved and provide feedback on things that are happening here at ECHS.
Parents/Guardians, there has been an update to language on Page 3 of the Parent Student Handbook. The Parent Student Handbook is available online in English and Spanish at https://www.fsusd.org/fsusd -parents.
That's all from me for this week. I am heading to the RHS football game vs Fairfield High. I hope everybody has a fun and safe weekend.
