Fairfield Forward 2050

The students in Pam Williamson's classes did group presentations on their recommendations for the City of Fairfield's General Plan and their ideas to improve the city over the next 30 years.   This idea came from ECHS Class of 2019 alumni  Noah Rumbaoa.  Noah is graduating from UC Berkeley next semester with a degree in Urban Development.  Noah has been working with the City of Fairfield on committees updating the Fairfield Forward 2050 General Plan and was looking for more community involvement and youth feedback.  Our 11th and 12th grade students did a great job presenting their short term and long term ideas for improving Fairfield!

The following guests came to listen to the presentations, give feedback, and ask questions:

City of Fairfield City Council Member Doriss Panduro
City of Fairfield Senior Planner Meily Sheehan
City of Fairfield Planning Intern Yee-Lynn Wong
Congressman John Garamendi Intern Jacob Francisco
Solano County Supervisor Monica Brown
Solano College Professor and FSUSD School Board Member Ana Petero

National Honor Society

The ECHS National Honor Society has taken on the service project of helping out the homeless in our community.  Today, the Executive Director of Vacaville Solano Services Colleen Berumen came to speak to the students about the Opportunity House Homeless Shelter and ways for students to volunteer and help out the homeless in Solano County.  We are very proud of our students for taking on this cause and doing what they can to help.

Student of the Week

This week we wanted to honor four students.  Mrs. Nance nominated Jalil Brooks, Ava Ginez, Hannah Schreiber, and Dylan Sunico.  These students have been doing a lot of group work together in World Civ. class.  They work really well together and always go above and beyond especially when it's time to present to the rest of the class.  These four students also all have outstanding grades in high school and college and participate in student clubs.  Ava is a member of Key Club, Jalil is a member of NHS, Key Club, and Chess Club, Dylan is a member of NHS and Key Club, and Hannah is a member of Speech and Debate and NHS.  Great job students!
