Presidents' Day

There are no high school or college classes and our office will be closed on Friday 2/12 as well as Presidents' Day Monday 2/15.   We return to classes on Tuesday 2/16 on our 6 period day schedule.  Students with time conflicts with their high school and college classes need to let their high school teachers know and attend the college class sessions.

Student of the Week

The ECHS Student of the Week is 12th grader Nhu Hin!  Nhu has done an excellent job in the ECHS program!  She is taking Abnormal Psychology, Developmental Psychology and Women's History.  After high school she plans to further study Psychology.  So far she has been accepted into CSU Fullerton and is waiting to hear back from a couple more CSUs and UCs.  She is the Vice President of National Honor Society, a member of Senior Class Club, and a student ambassador for GenUp Fairfield-Suisun.  She was one of the captains on the RHS badminton team and placed at Sections her sophomore year.  We are so proud of Nhu for what she has achieved in the ECHS program!

High school students can apply now for the Ed100 Academy for Student Leaders. Students who apply by the February 14 early application deadline will attend free. This year's conference will take place online from June 21-23.

Every high school should be represented by at least one freshman, one sophomore, and one junior. Go here for more information including how to nominate students to apply.

Academic Decathlon

Congratulations to the 2020-2021 Decathletes!  This year was like no other year before.  All portions of the competition took place online and decathletes even learned about a new video platform while doing their speeches and interviews.  Mrs. Freitas and I are so proud of everyone.  RHS/ECHS took 6th place overall again and several of our decathletes received medals for individual events.  We'd like to give a big shout-out to the following:

Jack Flynn - Gold: essay, social science & highest scoring overall in the 11th-grade varsity category and Bronze: economics
Chloe Woods - Gold: science
Angelo Velasco - Bronze: social science
Max Gonzalez-Barba - Gold: speech
Bria Smith - Silver: highest scoring overall in the 10th-grade scholastic category

Way to go ECHS Aca Deca!  Pegasi fly high!
