Progress Report Grades

-Math Support with Peer Tutors (Targeted for 9th graders in Math 1 or 1-2)
Counselor Corner
The first session of the Social Emotional Intelligence series was a success! We talked about the concept of taking the time to put down stress at the end of the day in order to find balance. We talked about healthy and unhealthy methods of self care such as deep breathing, or taking a 10 minute walk during the student's hour long lunch (when the weather permits). I visited every CR class and provided 2 handouts to help students gauge their overall stress levels and about keeping a stress journal.
Night Rally
I can't believe it's already March! Our school year is more than 2/3 finished. The progress report grades were finalized earlier in the week by the teachers and grades can be accessed online in Aeries. Students who are struggling are highly encouraged to seek out our academic supports. It is also not too late for students to sign up for college tutoring if they need help with their college classes. If you have any questions about high school academic support or college tutoring please let me know.

As an culminating event, I will be hosting a support group with detailed activities on dealing with stress for any student who is interested. The first meeting is next Thursday, March 7th at 3:00pm in Portable 1101.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Night Rally
We had over 60 ECHS students come out to the first ever RHS/ECHS Night Rally last Friday night. There were students games as well as performances from the RHS Cheer team, RHS Drumline, and the Nextkidz dance crew. There was also a DJ and the students all got to dance for the second hour. We are looking forward to future night rallies that our students will be able to participate in with their peers from RHS.
Chapkis Dance Family
Our 9th and 10th grade students had the opportunity to watch Chapkis Dance Group perform here on campus on Feb. 20th. The Chapkis Dance includes ECHS 10th grade student Kaylee Webber. Great job Kaylee!
Privilege Walk
Another event that took place back on Feb. 20th was the Privilege Walk led by SCC Professor Tonmar Johnson. This workshop really highlighted how diverse our student body is and how different our backgrounds and experiences are. We are grateful that Professor Johnson included so many of the ECHS students with this activity along with Ms. Mae and myself.
Poetry and Essay Winners
Six of our students were honored by the SCC Superintendent/President, Dr. Celia Esposito-Noy. This event occurred on Feb. 25 as part of the President's closing program. The following students took the top 3 places in both our Poetry and Essay Competitions.

Joelle Angeles and Gabriel Zazueta are this week’s students of the week. Both Joelle and Gabriel found out they were accepted into Dominican University of California. Both students earned Merit Scholarships. Joelle earned the Deans Scholarship which is $19,000 per year for 4 years and Gabriel earned the Trustee Scholarship which is $25,000 per year for 4 years. Congratulations to both Joelle and Gabriel for their academic achievement!
Class of 2019
We are so proud of all the ECHS seniors! Every student is on track to graduate from high school in June and will be leaving ECHS with a significant amount of SCC units with them. We are receiving more and more amazing news about the colleges our students are getting into. We are also very proud of the seniors who are making plans with their SCC counselor to continue next school year as full-time adult college students here at SCC and complete their TAG agreements.
Here is what some of the seniors have reported so far:
Cheerleading
Paint Night
Paint Night was a success after school today! We had a packed classroom with students from every grade level participating. Next month the after school activity is going to be Karaoke Night.
