8th grade Open House
Wednesday we hosted 8th grade students and their families after school here at ECHS. We had 32 amazing students serve as tour guides. The students showed the 8th graders and their parents around the campus, discussed the program, and answered questions.
Applications for 9th grade Fall enrollment will be accepted January 22nd - February 6th.
ECHS Alumni
ECHS/SCC graduate Rico Pelcher visited College Readiness classes and spoke to the current ECHS students on Thursday. Rico gave advice to the students and shared experiences from last semester at CSU Fullerton. Rico also came and spoke with 8th graders and families Wednesday night during the Open House event. Multiple other ECHS alumni came back to visit staff during our December teacher work day. It is so great to see the alumni from last year's first graduating class and hear about how wonderful they are doing at the various four-year universities they attend.
Teacher of the Year
Thursday, ECHS Leadership students presented Ms. Turgeon-Staggs flowers and a card for being named ECHS Teacher of the Year. Ms. Turgeon-Staggs is in her second year teaching Math and College Readiness at ECHS and also serves as the advisor for both the Robotics and Senior Class Clubs. Prior to teaching at ECHS, she taught at Rodriguez High School, Grange, and Sullivan Middle Schools. Ms. Turgeon-Staggs was honored at the FSUSD School Board meeting.
SCC Spring Semester Begins Monday
With college classes starting back up next week we want to remind everyone that there are supports to help aid in student success. The SCC tutoring center continues to be under utilized by our students. They provide support for just about every college class. Please encourage your son or daughter to sign up for the free college tutoring sooner than later if needed. If you are interested in finding out more about the college tutoring please contact me or Ms. Mae.
We will also be working to make sure every student gets their college textbooks as quick as possible. If we have the book on our shelf, we will check it out to the student asap. We will also be purchasing books from the campus bookstore, ordering some books through Amazon, and purchasing the online book access codes as needed. ECHS is a zero cost program, including the textbooks, but it is the student's responsibility to let us know what books are needed for their college classes.
