2019 Spring Semester

Our college registration window opens on Monday, December 10th at 9:30 am.  The students will log into their computers and complete the registration process in class.  I will be visiting classrooms to provide assistance to students who need additional help.

Ms. Mae sent an email to every ECHS student with instructions on how to check to see that their special admissions form has been cleared.  She also sent students directions on how to register for their college courses for reference.  I attached her directions to the email I sent out to parents as well.  If students see an issue, they should email me right away.

Mental Health Awareness Week

We concluded our Mental Health Awareness Week today with teachers talking to the students about self care.  The students and staff at ECHS discussed the tough topics of anxiety and depression earlier in the week.  It was great to see so many ECHS students of all grades wearing their green ribbons on campus.

We didn't plan it, but it also happened to be Stress Less Week for Solano College as well.  There were various activities taking place in the 1400 building.  Starting on Monday and continuing all week, SCC students left positive notes on post-its in the cafeteria.

College Finals

Some college finals have already taken place but the majority of them are next week.  We want to wish the students good luck on their final exams.  As a reminder, if a college final takes place during a high school class, students are excused but need to notify their teacher.  We also have been encouraging the students to utilize the Academic Support & Tutoring Center (ASTC).  Reminder, ECHS students are SCC students and have access to all of the same supports offered to the adult students.

Cocoa and Cram

High School finals are Dec. 18th and 19th.  The teachers will be staying after school on Monday, Dec. 17th for our annual Cocoa and Cram event.  We will hold the event in the cafeteria this year.  This is a chance for students to study together, ask last minute questions, and get help from their high school teachers.  The event will take place from 3:00-5:00 and we will serve the cocoa and snacks starting at 3:30.

RHS/ECHS Winter Dance

The winter dance will take place on Saturday, January 19th from 7:00-10:00 pm in the MPR at Rodriguez High School.  The cost is $10 or free if you have purchased the ASB card.  A dance form is required to attend the dance and students must have a 2.0 GPA or higher.

Ringing the Bells

ECHS will be outside of Macy's (near the Best Buy entrance) on Saturday, December 15th from 12:00-6:00 ringing the bells for the Salvation Army.  FSUSD has been supporting the Salvation Army and KROC Center the last two years.  ECHS has participated and has won the trophy and party for raising the most money both years.  We are hoping to keep the trophy here and continue the tradition!

Student of the Week

Weslynn Cedeno and Angelica Perez are the ECHS students of the week.  Both Weslynn and Angelica are senior students who have done very well with all of their high school and college classes.  At Solano, Weslynn is taking English 1-College Composition and
Math 4- Precalculus;  Angelica is taking COMM. 6-Argumentation and Debate and COMM 8-Group Communication this semester.  Both students are making a huge impact to the ECHS program as Cadet Teachers 5th period.  Weslynn and Angelica are helping students study, complete retake packets, and review practice skills for their Math I class.  We really appreciate their hard work and dedication to helping the younger ECHS students succeed.

Canned Food Drive and Toys for Tots

Just a reminder next week we are continuing to collect canned food and new unwrapped toys to help support those in need.
