Dear Early College Community,

It was a pleasure and an honor to welcome so many parents and students at our Early College Orientation last week.  This has been an exciting first week back.  We welcomed our 68 new 9th graders to Early College.  Every 9th grader and new ECHS student has been assigned a Pegasus Mentor.  The student mentors have been checking in with the new students to make sure they find their way around campus, get their college textbooks, and support them with any questions they may have.
School Counselor Ms. Mae and I have been meeting with students to make sure everyone is signed up for college classes that are appropriately integrated with each student’s four year plan.  We appreciate your understanding as it can be a challenge as many of the classes are offered during conflicting times in the student’s schedule, at times waitlisted, or even cancelled.  We work hard to make sure students are working toward the goal of successfully meeting all requirements in order to enroll and ultimately, achieve success at 4-year universities.
Our goal is 100% graduation and fulfillment of all A-G requirements.  Students need to maintain at least a C grade in every high school and college class.  Students who fall below a 2.5 G.P.A. will be placed on academic probation which could result in removal from the program.  Ms. Mae and I are available to meet with students and parents to discuss supports, plan for college, and assist proactively with any other needs as they may arise.
School safety is our top priority. I would like to thank Sheriff Deputy Adrian Garcia for speaking at orientation.  Deputy Garcia shared the emergency cell number and encouraged all the students to save it into their phones (707-580-6526).  This is the direct cell number to the on-duty campus sheriff.  Students can call, text, or send photos as needed to the sheriffs. We really appreciate our partnership with Solano College as well as the Solano County Sheriffs Department.
Parents and guardians will find electronic copies of the 2017-2018 Parent Student Handbook under the ‘Parent’ section of the Fairfield Suisun Unified School District’s website.  The Parent Student Handbook is available online in English and Spanish.
This year I will continue to send out emails to families with a link to my blog.  In addition, on both Facebook and Twitter I will be adding information and promoting all the amazing things that will be taking place here at Early College.  Please feel free to give me a call or email if you have any questions or comments. I am looking forward to an exciting and productive school year!
